Zucchini Chocolate Chip Muffins

I got this fun apron for my bday last month!
I tried this recipe from allrecipes.com with a few substitutions.
I added half a banana and a little more chocolate chips and extra vanilla and cinnamon.
Turned out AMAZING!

This is all that was left when I got around to taking the picture!

Necklace Holder

I was at Craft Warehouse with my bestie, Chelsea Emch, looking for various art supplies.  We were really inspired by silverware hooks we saw on the blog Design*Sponge.  I wanted to use photographs though.  At the Craft store I found a square with four separate squares inside on sale for $2.00!! I knew this is what I wanted to use. I painted it and then mod podged the pictures on, added a little glitter and waited for it to dry! I then just hammered my silverware to the hook shape I wanted and hot glued...
What a great necklace holder it makes!!

The top left is a photo I took in San Fransisco in China Town somewhere.  The Bottom right corner is a vineyard in Napa Valley I took out the window when driving through.  The other two pictures are of my boyfriend, Cameron, and I.
We've been dating for four years. Fun end of summer project!

Painting Fun

I was bored and felt like painting.  I want to start embroidering soon and have been looking all over the net for pointers and what not. I noticed that free embroidery patterns could be easy to paint.  I printed a few and this is one of the projects I came up with it.

Grandmas Birthday Card

I came across the blog
and fell in love!  I always loved paper dolls
growing up. I printed a few and
had a photo shoot!

I didn't know what to do with the dolls when I was done, then realized i could make my Grandmas Birthday Card with one! I wanted it to look kind of like a postcard.

A Little Too Much Fun...

I found an awesome link for a printable disguise kit randomly while surfing the net

NOLA

I miss Treme!!
Treme is an amazing show on HBO that takes place in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina. It is specifically about the New Orleans neighborhood Treme and how they are dealing with the aftermath of the flood. If I could describe the show in one word, it would be “authentic.” Local musicians are featured in every episode.  There are so many layers in Treme that summing it up in a few sentences don’t do it justice, but I'll try.
This was taken one year after the hurricane

 New Orleans Indians

The cast is on point! I have two favorite characters. The first one is Davis McAlary, played by Steve Zahn.  Davis is a part time DJ/Musician and is very passionate about New Orleans, but this quality is something all of the characters have in common.  My second favorite character is Creighton Bernnette, played by John Goodman. Creighton is an English professor who is also in the process of writing a book about The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927.  So naturally he's advocating the city works on preventing future floods.
He records a Youtube blog, funniest thing ever...

It turns out Creighton is real!!! He's based on a man named Ashley Morris who has an even better blog similar to what John Goodman says in the link above. This was an amazing discovery for me!

The night of the season finale I was stoked.  I made a New Orleans themed dinner.
Gumbo, Cornbread and Mardi Gras King Cake both from my Paula Deen Celebrates Cookbook and Jazzmatazz for our drink!!
 AMAZING MEAL

I'm obsessed with all things New Orleans after watching Treme.  It has opened up
a new window of music, food and the city itself.  While I wait
(impatiently) for Treme to return I need something to tie me over....

First I found Music of Treme on Facebook, and loads of good Youtube videos are posted all the time.  During the 1st season they posted the songs that were
played during that episode as well.

The Treme soundtrack comes out September 28, 2010 and I'm counting down the days! The track list was just released though :)

The Why.

Summer is winding down and
there are many things
I haven't done that I planned on,
one of which is a blog.
So here I am starting something
